Cold heading is a high-speed deformation operation using wire coils previously prepared by phosphating. The wire, cut into billets, is then passed through a succession of tools that will ensure progressive deformation in order to obtain a blank (before threading) or a finished part that will then be hardened and treated. The cold heading process is dedicated to the mass production of parts such as nuts, screws and rivets. MotulTech cold heading lubricants are chlorine-free.
